"Nothing could be finer than to be in Carolina in the morning . . ."
The Lowcountry Gullah culture has a lyrical term for sunrise--Day Clean. And they're right; because everyday is a new beginning, filled with opportunities. We believe it is also the perfect time to see and learn about the timeless city we call home.Join historian and published author John Young on a walk, and wake up with Charleston as she slowly rouses herself from a dream that now encompasses 340 years. You will see The Old Exchange Building, Rainbow Row, the High Battery, White Point Garden and St. Michael's Church. You will meet a mere handful of the people who shaped the city's history, including Arnoldus Vanderhorst, Thomas Pinckney, General P.G.T. Beauregard, Nathaniel Russell and DuBose Heyward, and you'll hear of the events that shaped them, including the American Revolution, the Civil War, the Great Fires, the 1886 Earthquake and Hurricane Hugo.
